Varsity Baseball

Treyton and Brenlon are playing High School Baseball this year. Cove doesn't have enough kids to have their own team, so they have a co-op with Union High School (a town 10 miles away, and 3 times as big as Cove--which isn't saying much). There are 4 boys from Cove playing this year...double the amount that played last year! They are both starting players on the JV team, and occasionally get to play with the Varsity.

On Friday, there was a Varsity double-header against Adrian. All of Union's Seniors were out of town on their Senior Trip, and so Treyton and Brenlon got to play. Brenlon was the starting Short Stop. They both had great games, including some excellent hits into the outfield. In the second game, Brenlon got a great hit that brought in the 2 RBIs that ended the game. I was excited to read the newspaper to see if either one of the boys were mentioned, and they were! This is what that part of the paper read:

"Union didn't take on any water with a young crew left to man the ship. The Bobcats were without their seniors against Adrian, and the underclassmen took care of business during a sweep. The Union baseball team won the first game 11-0, and finished by taking the nightcap 10-0. 'It's just a case of the younger guys being ready to step in,' Bobcats head coach Greg Poor said. 'We had a lot of guys come in and play really well wherever they were asked to play.'....In game 2, Breylon Treyton finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs."

Breylon Treyton??? Oh well...so much for fame and fortune!!
